Jackie bag by Gucci

First created in the late Fifties, the Jackie O bag is an instantly recognizable classic with rounded edges and a signature push lock closure. The Jackie was originally called the 'Constance' but was re-named in honour of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, wife of US President John F Kennedy after she was photographed numerous times wearing the bag while working as a consulting editor at Doubleday. A fashion icon of her time, Jacqueline Onassis was considered one of the best dressed First Ladies, so it is no surprise that her love of the bag led to its huge success. The Gucci classic became her constant companion, and showcased its potential as the perfect accessory for a working woman who demands convenience with class.

Decades later and this practical yet stylish classic has a new contemporary edge courtesy of Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini. Injecting her signature modern glamour into the new style, renamed the New Jackie, today’s over sized style has an eye-catching new deconstructed form yet simultaneously showcases Gucci’s heritage and the House’s exquisite craftsmanship. Each model requires a minimum of seven hours and maximum of thirteen hours (depending on type of leather) to produce by hand in It
